fix your crown — exploring the 7th chakra

hey girls, its been a minute — lets catch up.

happy new year! this past weekend was the lunar new year and so it feels fitting to wish you happy new year on behalf of the sun and the moon. there have been so many changes, internal and external. for one, i am moving into a new position at work and i am so excited to be back working with my kiddies and to really be able to make an impact. that’s one thing that is so important to me in my life, and so it will make my daily experience at work feel more rewarding. internally, i've been spending more time being intentional with my time and what i allow into my energy. everything ain't for me and i have to draw clear lines and set strong boundaries so that i maintain my energy. speaking of boundaries, let's talk about them because last week i was called to focus on them heavy and this year may call for some of y’all to start standing 10 toes on yours.

we allllllllways talk about how important it is to protect your peace, but how often do we actually act on it? i'm a recovering people pleaser, and i know that it took a long time for me to feel comfortable with implementing my boundaries. i even have to remind myself present day that they are needed and that IT IS OK to set them. because... it can feel bad sometimes, like? setting boundaries can make me feel bad sometimes, but i know that stems from me wanting to put other people's feelings before my own which is an "absolutely not" — we don't burn ourselves out for the sake of others. not anymore! so for all the “save the world” girls out there that truly find themselves not being able to say no — start practicing PLEASE i beg!!! it will eventually become your favorite word and it will get easier. and this isn't a judgment zone if you're struggling with setting boundaries. this is an encouragement zone to remind yourself that its ok to set boundaries because your energy and your joy depends on it, but the first step is becoming aware that there is a change that needs to be made.

each sunday, as a part of my reset, i pull oracle cards for myself to get a weekly theme/focus. i like to ground myself in intention, and this helps me to be more intentional about my week. last sunday, i got a nice lesson from my spiritual team about boundaries. and so this week's theme was a lovely transition from protecting myself physically and spiritually in order to move into what i'm being asked to do with my energy.

my oracle card for this week called for me to focus on my crown chakra — the chakra of universal consciousness and wisdom. in my study of the crown chakra, i learned it can be about dreams as well (which is interesting because my dreams recently have been very telling!), but the crown chakra talks about our spiritual connection with God, the universe and our ancestors. so this week's focus is moving me into more meditative and spiritual spaces and being intentional about what i do while i'm in them.

but firstttttt, let's talk more about the crown chakra:

☆ the crown chakra is the 7th chakra, and is at the top of your head (hence the name "crown").
☆ the crown chakra is associated with the color purple/violet.
☆ the crown chakra connects us to the spiritual world in and outside of ourselves.
☆ the crown & the root chakra work together: keeping us connected to our divinity while staying grounded.
☆ the crown chakra rules our thinking, spiritual wisdom and spiritual awareness.
☆ the crown chakra reminds you of your own spiritual power and the universe that is inside of you.

as we move into this week with the crown chakra in mind, think about ways that you find divinity within yourself. maybe write a letter to yourself, or make a list. take time to meditate, and to ask questions in prayer. ask for things to be revealed to you, and ask that it will be revealed in a way that you would understand it. as for myself, i’m thinking of keeping a dream journal this week especially since they’ve already been very...interesting. i’ll also be journaling after i meditate more often to bring the meditation to a more formal close, and (hopefully) waking up earlier to spend some time in the angel hours. try new things and see what sticks. you have the ability to change your mind, nothing has to be permanent. so if it doesn’t feel right, try something else and with everything you do, give yourself grace.
