a reminder to rest.
let’s practice listening to our bodies.
your worth is not defined by how much you can accomplish without taking breaks. rest is not a reward, it is a necessity. it is an act of self-care and self-love. rest is an important part of this process — be intentional about making time for it.
a few months ago, i was experiencing creative blocks and it had been such a long time since i'd gone through a period of blockages. i kept trying to figure out what the root of the block was and realized it was probably from me feeling burned out. i always try to take the blockages as a sign that i need to be tuned into my energy more and listen to my body. so, i started to adjust my routine in order to feel more grounded in my own life. let me just briefly note that this ain't easy work ok! but it's necessary work because if we're not doing the work, nothing changes.
cancer season was the perfect time to really tap in with myself and how i'm feeling and challenge myself to be where my feet were. i'm always being reminded that i need to be present because that's where i find everything i'm looking for. when i worry about the future, or think about the past i can take away from the good things that are happening right in front of me. about a month or two ago, i heard someone say "be where your feet are", and that has been such a powerful mantra for me. because where are my feet? always where i am. it's a short powerful phrase that has been keeping me grounded.
as we continue this walk of life daily, there will always be things that need our attention and we might feel like we have to save the world, but today and this week let’s practice being where our feet are. lean into how you are feeling in each moment, and listen to your body as it tells you what you need. is your body telling you that you need to rest? if so, return to yourself, giving your body what it needs. what does rest look like for you?
here’s a journal prompt for my journaling babes:
Describe an area of your life where you are currently overextending yourself. What changes can you make in order to feel more grounded and connected to your needs in this area?
